Have you ever thought of growing White Tomatoes? I can’t say that I have, however they bring with them a curiosity as to what would they taste like, so I am intrigued, are you?

Why should you grow White Tomatoes instead Red Tomatoes?

  • Phytoene and phytofluene – White Tomatoes contain these two of the best known antioxidants and have anti-aging skin properties and can reduce skin inflammation.
  • Phytofluene – also acts as a UV protecting agent for your skin.

Are the Tomatoes truly White in colour?

White Tomatoes start green and ripen to all white or a pale yellow. It is all white flesh inside the tomato.

What do White Tomatoes taste like?

White tomatoes do not have a strong tomatoey taste and they are low in acidity compared to red tomatoes. White tomatoes have very few seeds. The taste of White Tomatoes is sweet like a melon flavour.

Things you need to know when Growing White Tomatoes

  • Grow white tomatoes exactly like red tomatoes,
  • Once the white tomatoes are white or pale yellow, the only way of knowing when they are ready to harvest is to pick one and taste it.

What is White Tomato Extract or White Tomato Powder?

White Tomatoes can be grounded into a powder or a capsule and this is commercially available. It is can be taken to lighten skin pigmentation, remove uneven skin tone, reduce dark spots and improve skin appearance and inflammation.

  • White Beauty / Snowball – Beefsteak with white/light yellow skin.
  • Snowberry – heirloom variety, cherry fruits, creamy light yellow.
  • Cream Sausage – light yellow elongated tomato. Small bushy plant. Great for large pots.
