Keyhole Gardens

What is a Keyhole Garden?

A Keyhole Garden is a raised circular garden in the shape of a keyhole. In the keyhole centre is a compost collection area. Keyhole Gardens are used in climates that are dry and rocky like areas in South & East Africa.

A keyhole Garden is normally situated next to the household washing up area so the waste water can be used for crop watering.

I saw this concept on: Riverford’s Instagram with a Short video of a Keyhole Garden being created.

RHS Trends 2025

The Royal Society of Horticulture (RHS) has released their predicted Trends for 2025.

One of them being edible perennials like fruit trees and shrubs.

I have dwarf apple trees, blueberry bushes, blackberry, a peach tree and last year a well fruiting loganberry was added to the mix.

These are a valuable additions to the Vegetable Garden, indeed any garden, for wildlife, colour and harvests!

Taylors Bulbs – Royal Approval

If you buy seed potatoes, onion sets, flowers bulbs and more from Garden centres in the UK, you may be familiar with the brand Taylor’s Bulbs.

Taylors Bulbs have been trading since 1919, a family business running through 4 generations.

Taylors bulbs have in December 2024 received a Royal Warrant from His Majesty the King Charles III. This is an honour given to companies who have regularly supplied the royal household for 5 years or more.

Here’s a look forward into January and some of the Jobs To Do in the Vegetable Garden.

Seeds To Sow in January Indoors

There is some debate as to whether January is too early to sow seeds. I discussed why it might be too early in my post last year. Read here.

This year I’ve decided to test whether it is too early to sow seeds or not by starting vegetables indoors on the windowsill.
