This year has been a successful year for Green Lettuce and a poor year for red Lettuce as only one seed germinated. I sowed 3 types of lettuce this year, a romaine green lettuce, a red lettuce and a light green loose leaf lettuce – Black Seeded Simpson. This is the first time I’ve had success with growing Romaine Lettuce.
Pak Choi Harvest
Pak choi is a cold loving plant and doesn’t like a change in high temperature. It has been a risk trying to grow them early in the year as there is a risk that they will bolt (which is send up a flower, like broccoli).
I thought because the variety said very bolt resistant I might still be able to grow them however due to the warm temperatures it has now bolted.
Although not too much of a problem, you can still harvest your Park Choi and chop the flowers off. I do actually quite like the delicate yellow flowers which are now bringing in the insects.
The Park choi will now be harvested to make way for the pumpkins and squash to be planted out. I will be growing more Pak Choi in the late summer/autumn.
