Closed book in hand of person

As Bill Bailey, the comedian (recently on Strictly come dancing) once stated in his stand up show, Argos has the ‘book of laminated dreams’, it may have been once but now the book of dreams for me are definitely seed catalogues.

Mr fothergills seed catalogue dropped through my letterbox this morning and I’m like a kid at Christmas as I can’t contain my excitement. All other things have been dropped this afternoon, the dishes can stay on the side, my daughter is happy playing with her chalk board so I’m looking at my 1st book of dreams.

I don’t know about you, but I planted the garlic just before Christmas and it was cold then in the garden, but now in the south it is freezing and threateningly snow tomorrow (well what we in England call freezing).

I have been loosing enthusiasm waiting for my leeks to get fatter and my romansco cauliflower to get any bigger than the size of a golf ball, it’s all very slow in the winter. But the sight of a seed catalog kicks me into planning action! It’s all very exciting thinking about what you could grow through out the next year.

I try not to sign up to too many catalogues through the post because of the waste of paper so I’ll pick a few cherished paper ones to give me that browsing capability and to get the feel of flicking through the freshly printed pages and then check out the online catalogues as well.

There’s so much choice from varieties these days, that over the next few weeks I’ll be breaking it down to easy to read chunks, to show you what’s on offer across the seed companies for year 2021.

Seed Companies with online catalogues:

Moreveg – Highly Recommend, I always get my seeds from this lady and they always germinate.

Real Seeds – Brilliant seed company if you want to grow something that’s a little different.
