My Veg Garden

Sow, Grow, Harvest.co.uk Vegetable Garden

Welcome to my Vegetable Garden in Maldon, Essex in the UK.

I live on a new build site which is still a building site as of March 2025 and I have designed our garden to grow our own fruit, vegetables and to attract wildlife.

Most new build gardens are the standard lawn with drainage issues and standard issue patio slabs. We wanted something different, like a back garden oasis, to attract wildlife, to be siting amongst the flowers and seeing bees, butterflies, dragonflies and have a thriving fruit & vegetable garden.

Our Vegetable Garden consists of 4 large wooden raised beds measuring 2 meters long by 1 meter wide and a 6ft x 6ft greenhouse.

Our garden is quite windy and it is in full sun from Spring until Late Summer. The gardens sunniest spot (where most people would put their patio) I have put my beloved greenhouse.

The greenhouse came in its own last year 2024 when we successfully grew Mini Cantaloupe Melons. This year 2025 we are trying some different Mini Melons.

Vegetable Gardens over the Years

March 2022 to Present

Veg Garden- Mar 2022 to Present

Our New Build Garden was a muddy clay pond and it was changed into 4 Large Vegetable beds, lawn, 2 hardstandings for shed and greenhouse and a Patio.

How our current Vegetable Garden was turned from a muddy clay area to a thriving vegetable garden.

Vegetable Garden Plan 2024We had big hopes for Mini Melons in the Greenhouse and they were successful, but it wasn’t the year for courgettes or squashes due to the wet weather and lack of sunshine.

About Me

Hi, I’m Tracey — vegetable grower, passionate learner, and firm believer that anyone can grow their own food. While I work as an account manager during the day, my spare time has been dedicated to growing vegetables in my back garden for the last 23 years.

What started as a hobby grew into a passion, and now I’m building a place where others can learn too. This is your veg-growing hub for practical advice, seasonal inspiration, beginner-friendly learning, and real gardening experiences from someone who’s grown through every success and setback.
