Sow Summer Cabbage Seeds

Seed Sow Along –

Summer Cabbage Seeds

Summer Cabbages can be pointy or round headed. I am sowing them early so I get a late May harvest. I might just get some homemade Coleslaw this year!

I’m planting my Summer Cabbages amongst Onions and Garlic to repel pests away, I’ll also be brightening up the edges of the beds with Calendula flowers which are bright orange. They attract beneficial insects which help keep the pests away too. More on this later in the year!

It’s All in the Details

Sow Summer Cabbage Seeds: January to February – Indoors or March to April – Outdoors.

Germination in days: 7 – 14 days

Where to Sow: Indoors in a seed or cell tray with ventilation lid on the windowsill.

My Seedlings: They will emerge with their first true leaves.

When do I remove the lid? After you see all your seedlings.

Do they need anymore water? They should have enough from sowing for a few weeks. Just check under the soil to see if it feels dry.
