Flashback to My First Vegetable Plot

Flash Back to Tracey in her early twenties – My first Veg Plot

Yes, this was me! I was 23, when I started growing vegetables in my own back garden. I looked so excited and proud as I actually made that raised bed myself. It was the first time I had even used a drill.

I had 3 of these 1m x 1m wooden raised beds and that year I learned a lot … like slugs love lettuce, cats love sitting on your veggies and I grew my first radish and spring onions! I also remember building my first Geoff Hamilton cloche out of blue pipe and netting. Aaahh, fantastic memories!

Twenty three years later, in the Year 2025, I’m still as passionate as ever with growing my own vegetables, it’s definitely a lifelong passion.

My Vegetable Garden

Welcome to my back garden oasis! This was a new build plot of mud 3 years ago with heavy clay soil and waterlogged soil.

Now look at it, 4 Chunky wooden raised beds (2.4m long x 1m wide) and a 6×6 greenhouse and many overflow containers!

There’s enough growing space here to feed a family of 4, although we are a family of 3, we usually give away our excess veg to family.
